Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin will compete for the first time with incumbents SpaceX and United Launch Alliance (ULA) for national security launches using its New Glenn rocket. The U.S. Air Force (USAF) announced on Thursday that it had awarded the three companies a multiple-award, indefinite-quantity contract worth a maximum of $5.6 billion to launch defense payloads. The five-year contract begins in fiscal year 2025 and extends through June 2029, with an option for five additional years.
